Katsina NURTW Advices To Establish Road Safety Unit

The Katsina State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers has been advised to establish a Road Safety Unit to assist in educating drivers particularly on the control of road accidents.

Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Professor Badamasi Lawal gave the advice when the State Chairman of NURTW Alhaji Musa Yan'doma led other officials of the Union on a courtesy Visit to the Ministry.

Professor Badamasi Lawal pointed out that by establishing the Unit, the Union will be up to the standard and claimed that the National Road Safety Corps in the state will also come in to contribute its quarter.

The Commissioner pointed out that with over 30,000 members, the Union had outnumbered others, and appreciated the zeal of the union on information gathering in a bid to sanitise its operations.

As a former Sector Commandant of the NRSC,the Commissioner said when ever the Unit is established, he will personally join to contribute in educating members.

He therefore appreciate the visit and urged members to continue with their support to the administration of Malam Dikko Umar Radda.

Earlier, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers Alhaji Musa Yan'doma they were in the Commissioner's office to strengthen the existing relationship with the Ministry.

Alhaji Musa Yan'doma explained that the Union currently has over 30,000 members across the state and willing to contribute towards revenue generation for the state to prosper.

The Chairman also said his Union noted the appreciable action the state government is taking toward curbing insecurity in the state.

While registering the Union's appreciation for the reception accorded, the State Chairman assured that the Union will go along with the state government by supporting and assisting its policies and programmes.
